We’re Hiring Event Managers – Off-Site Catering Events
Railtown Catering is looking for experienced, confident, and service-driven Event Managers to join our Off-Site Event Team. These are part-time positions ideal for hospitality professionals who thrive in fast-paced environments and enjoy leading teams onsite.

As an Event Manager, you will be responsible for the successful execution of off-site catering events — overseeing setup, service, and teardown while acting as the primary onsite leader for staff and a key point of contact for clients.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead the execution of off-site catering events from load-in to tear-down• Oversee event setup according to client specifications, including tables, chairs, buffets, tents, and service areas• Prepare, load, and safely transport food, beverage, and equipment in catering vehicles• Maintain cleanliness and organization of vehicles and event spaces• Supervise, direct, and support service staff during events• Liaise with clients onsite to confirm timelines and ensure event details are executed accurately• Ensure professional presentation of all food and beverage throughout the event• Support management with training and mentoring team members as needed• Promote Railtown Café and Catering through professionalism and guest interaction• Adapt to varying event environments while maintaining composure and leadership
What We’re Looking For:
• Minimum 5 years of food and beverage supervisory experience (catering, hotel, or restaurant environment)• Strong leadership and decision-making skills• Excellent organizational and time-management abilities• Exceptional customer service and communication skills• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods• Ability to carry three plates comfortably• Valid BC driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract• Food Safe Level 1 (or higher) certification• Serving It Right certification• Fluent written and spoken English (additional languages are an asset)• Flexible availability including evenings, weekends, and holidays
Role Details:
• Part-time position (approximately 10–20 hours per week)• Average shift length: 7–11 hours• Must be available a minimum of 2 days per week (1 weekday + 1 weekend day, or 2 weekend days)• Schedule includes daytime, evenings, holidays, and on-call shifts• Hourly wage: $22 per hour + cash gratuities (gratuities typically range $15–20 per hour)
